Hanging lamp SAULAŽIEDĖ (2:1)

Lithuanian design lamp with openwork sun sign decor.

The lamps in the photos are natural oak, light oak and brown walnut.

This ornament is one of the most famous, usually carved in wood. Found in Lithuanian kankles, under strings, seen on ceremonial ancestral mead ladles and ancient doors in remote villages in India. We call it a rolling sun, a star, a sunflower. As if the letters are arranged, light spreads between them every time, a primordial bloom breaks out. And when multiplied and combined, the universal symbolism of the ring of life unfolds. Everything that is alive - breathes, repeats the movement of expansion and contraction. Waters and grasses speak this language. It melts, fades, dries up and comes back uphill again. Floods, spreads, becomes serious, falls apart, quiets and matures. Gives, rests, surrenders to the equinox and changes. It moves downhill, accumulates sap and grows again. We put such a breath of life into the drawing on the light hood.
